Confluence pages with too many comments

This insight checks whether any of your pages exceed the recommended number of comments.

Too many comments can affect performance of a particular page, but not the entire space. Since our recommended max for comments is quite high, the affected pages will likely work very slowly or not load at all. Experience for users viewing and editing the page is degraded.

What's the recommendations?

Confluence doesn't have a native way of deleting comments in bulk that's why we recommend to archive affected pages. Archiving is only available in Confluence Cloud so you'll need to wait until you migrate these pages.

Some other ideas you can use:

  • Check Marketplace apps that help with cleanup or archiving
  • If the page content is important, copy the page to keep the content without comments. You can restrict the original page to hide it or make it view-only, which lets you keep comment history
