Adding your accounts

You can add your various Hipchat accounts to the Hipchat Mac app. 

Click your profile picture and choose Log in to another team.

When you add accounts in the Hipchat Mac app, you get a left sidebar with avatars for each account. The far left sidebar, shown below, has three avatars corresponding to my three Hipchat accounts. (Learn how to add avatars to Hipchat.)

After you add an account, click below your avatars to quickly add more accounts.

Switching among accounts

To switch among accounts, just click the account's avatar or use the keyboard shortcuts (option + tab, control + ⌘ + ↑, and  control + ⌘ + ↓).

You can move between rooms and people within accounts as you normally would. Click the room's or person's name. Hit the New chat button to join a different room or start a new 1-on-1 chat.

You can log out of an account as you normally would by clicking your profile picture and choosing Log out.

Setting notifications

You can set different notifications for different accounts. For example, you can choose to get lots of notifications for one account and just a few notifications for another. Learn more about notifications.

1. Switch to the account whose notifications you want to set.
2. Click your profile picture > Settings > Notifications.

Removing your accounts

Not using one of your accounts, anymore? You can tell your Hipchat app to forget the account. This removes the account from the app. If you need to chat using the account in the future, you can always add your account again.

1. Switch to the account you want the Hipchat app to forget.
2. Click your profile picture and choose Log out.
3. Click Forget this account.

Chatting in multiple accounts using the Hipchat web app

You can log in to and chat with multiple accounts using the Hipchat web app. 

1. Log in to one of your Hipchat accounts in your browser.
2. Click Launch the web app.
3. Click your profile picture, then select Log in to another team.

Once you're logged in to two or more accounts, just click the browser tabs to switch among the accounts.

You can log out of accounts as you normally would by clicking your profile picture and choosing Log out.
