Problem

The status of the Jira Hipchat integration shows OAUTH FAILURE.

Messages from Jira are not flowing to Hipchat and the integration is not showing as installed on the Hipchat side.

Cause

This could occur in one of the following cases (and maybe others):

  • Another Jira instance with the same server ID as the impacted one was integrated to Hipchat. This has invalidated the OAuth token of the impacted Jira instance.
  • The integration has been running for a long time and the OAuth token expired.
  • The OAuth token was deleted manually from Hipchat.

Resolution

Remove the integration from Jira and set it up once again.

Don't worry! By removing the integration, you will not lose your project to room mapping and notification settings. These will be restored as soon as the integration is working again.
