Problem

One or many Hipchat room(s) cannot be found.  They are not visible from the Hipchat client nor are they visible from the web interface via https://<fqdn>/rooms.

The Hipchat Server admins and room owners did not delete any of the rooms.

The following is written to /var/log/hipchat/coral.log:

2016-10-19T15:40:28.468411+00:00 hipchat coral-2: [/room/167#REQBqFKyj] Room rid-1_its_tickets has been deleted

Cause

If the Ephemeral Rooms add-on installed, this is most likely the root cause. There's a bug with the server version of the add-on whereby it deletes rooms that were legitimately created by users. This is contradictory with the add-on description:

Ephemeral Rooms adds the new /quickchat slash command allowing you to @-mention a handful of users from anywhere and have a private room automatically created with invites sent to the users you named. After everyone leaves, the room self-destructs.

Resolution

Don't worry, the room can still be recovered as long as a new room with the same name is not created. If a new room with the same name is created, the old room will lose all its history.

The add-on has been temporarily removed from Atlassian Marketplace and Atlassian has contacted the add-on developer to fix the bug. The add-on will be available again as soon as the bug is fixed and validated.

Please contact Atlassian Support to get guidance on how to restore the deleted room(s).
