This article aims to guide you through the process of modifying anchor dates and PI for Completed Sprints in Jira Align.

Solution

According to the JA help document:

• If a sprint is locked and in progress, only a "Scrum Master", "Product Owner", and "Team coach" can make changes to it.

• If a sprint is complete, then only a "Team coach" can make changes to it. However, after testing it even a Super Admin can't change the PI for a complete sprint, regardless of whether it is locked or unlocked.

The following steps outline how to overcome the issue:

1. In JA, navigate to Programs > More Items > Program Increments and change the status of the PI from "Complete" to "Planning”

2. Navigate to Teams> More Items > Sprints, open the sprint(s), unlock it, and save the changes

3. Change the sprint status from "Complete" to "Planning Phase" and save the changes

4. Change the sprint’s PI from e.g. EDL-23Q4 to LAR-22Q4

5. The sprint should now reflect the correct anchor dates related to PI LAR-22Q4

6. Go back to each of the sprints modified and change their statuses back to Complete

7. Finally, change the status of the PI(s) back to Complete.
