Adding the Issue Statistics Gadget

The Issue Statistics gadget displays the collection of issues returned from a specified project or saved filter, grouped by a specified field.

For instance, a filter can be created to return all open issues from all projects. The gadget can then be configured to display these issues broken down by a field (e.g. Assignee).

What does it look like?

The Issue Statistics gadget should appear as follows on the dashboard:

Adding the 'Issue Statistics' gadget to your Dashboard

  1. Go to your JIRA dashboard and click 'Add Gadget'.
  2. The 'Gadget Directory' will appear. Locate the 'Issue Statistics' gadget and click the 'Add it Now' button. Then click the 'Finished' button at the bottom of the Gadget Directory.
  3. The Issue Statistics gadget will appear on your dashboard as follows, ready for you to configure:

    1. 'Project or Saved Filter'  — start typing the name of the project or filter, or click the 'Advanced Search' link to search for a project or filter.
    2. 'Statistic Type'  — select the field (e.g. Assignee; Component; Priority; Resolution; etc) on which the issues will be grouped.
    3. 'Sort By'  — select how to sort the values of your selected field:
      • 'Natural' — this will use the field's native sorting order, e.g. for the "Assignee" field, the assignee names would be sorted alphabetically.
      • 'Total' — this will sort by the number of issues that match each value, e.g. for the "Assignee" field, the assignee names would be sorted by the number of issues assigned to each person.
    4. 'Sort Direction'  — select whether the field values should be sorted in Ascending or Descending order.
    5. 'Show Resolved Issue Statistics' — select whether the graph will include resolved issues (i.e. issues that have a Resolution).
    6. 'Refresh Interval'  — select how often you want the gadget to update (never / every 15 minutes / every 30 minutes / every hour / every two hours).
  4. Click the 'Save' button.

To move the gadget to a different position on the dashboard, simply drag-and-drop. You can also change the look and behavior of the gadget.

The "Issue Statistics" gadget has replaced the "Filter Statistics" portlet.

Can you clarify what specific fields are included in the Statistic Type pulldown...it looks like SOME of my custom fields are selectable, but others aren't. Can't see to see rhyme or reason.

Same question as the last post. How are the fields that are listed for Statistic type determined? If I create a free form field can it be added to the list?

is it possible to configure somehow that the Issue Statistics Gadget comes with 'Show Resolved Issue Statistics' = 'Yes' per default (in a property file or something) ?

after upgrading JIRA from 3.13. to 5.0. (via 4.4.) I would have to fine-tune all of my gadget by clicking this option and I would have to inform all of our clients that they would have to adapt their own dashboards as well in order to not confuse them by a lower total of displayed issues

Do we have an answer for the fields listed for Statistic type?

I need to use Dashboard gadgets on Free Text Field that is generally populated by CRM Plug-in.

We had this ability in 5.0.2 with JIRA Natural Searchers; but this option is unavailable in 6.x

JIRA Natural Searchers is available for JIRA up to 6.0.8 , for latter version you can use JIRA Stattable Searchers.

I've created a custom field and need to add statistical summary (total value) to my dashboard however the Issues Statistic gadget doesn't seem to allow me to select that custom field. The custom field type is numerical.

It seem this is a common issue and it would be great if Atlassian can provide some guidance.

      Hello,

You just need to enable the statistic for your custom field,  have a look at this plugin  : https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/eu.kprod.jira.stattable-searchers

It will add the statistic that you need.

You can browse this page for a more comprehensive answer  : https://answers.atlassian.com/few-of-custom-fields-not-showing-in-statics-gadget

      Best regards,

      Marc
