JIRA is now available as three separate applications, JIRA Software, JIRA Service Desk, and JIRA Core. For more information on administering these applications, refer to the Administering JIRA Applications documentation.

Adding the Watched Issues Gadget

The Watched Issues gadget shows issues which you are watching.

What does it look like?

The Watched Issues gadget should appear as follows on the dashboard:

Adding the 'Watched Issues' Gadget to your Dashboard

  1. Go to your JIRA dashboard and click Add Gadget.
  2. The Gadget Directory will appear. Locate the Watched Issues gadget and click the Add it Now button. Then click the Finished button at the bottom of the Gadget Directory.
  3. The Watched Issues gadget will appear on your dashboard as follows, ready for you to configure:

    1. Number of results — type the maximum number of issues that you want the gadget to display per page.
    2. Fields to display  — select the issue fields to display as columns. Drag and drop to re-order.
    3. Refresh Interval — select how often you want the gadget to update the displayed activity (never / every 15 minutes / every 30 minutes / every hour / every two hours).
  4. Click the Save button.

To move the gadget to a different position on the dashboard, simply drag-and-drop. You can also change the look and behavior of the gadget.

Why don't you give user opportunity to control resolution value by him/her?

by default you retrieve WATCHED issue PLUS RESOLUTION = NONE.

I had to replace the Watched Issues gadget with filer gadget (making simple watchedissues() clause) - giving users the possibility to see what they want. We use different resolutions in our schema for our own goals and unfortunately many JIRA gadgets consider resolution value set as resolved or unresolved (end of activity for the ticket - which is NOT TRUE!!!)

Could you just make resolution as an additional parameter for gadget (use it or not for querying data or for which value to use it)?

    Hello everybody!

Since the last Jira update, any task I see is automaticly added to my watched-task's list, so this list is quite useless (in a couple of days, there are near fifty "not really" watched tasks. Is there any configuration parameter for avoiding it?

    Thanks in advance!

Try to go to your profile -> Summary -> Preferences -> Set Autowatch to Disabled.

      Hope it helps.

Recently I became impossible to remove "Watchers" column. This is quite annoying as information in that column is quite useless and it just makes other fields narrower and less readable.

      Hi Pawel Zakiewicz,

I've been able to remove the watchers on my instance, I clicked the drop-down on the top right of the gadget, and selected edit. I then clicked the trash can symbol next to the watchers column. If this isn't working for you, I'd suggest contacting our Support team.

        Hi Warren Thompson,

Unfortunately, it is not a case that I can remove Watchers column, hence opening JIRA.

Watchers column is displayed on gadget, but is not displayed as selected, when editing gadget settings. Please refer to screenshots attached to JIRA JRA-40835 (I cannot add files here).

As well, removing and adding gadget again is not resolving the problem. Neither adding Watchers to the list of displayed columns in gadget configuration, and then removing it.

          Hi Pawel Zakiewicz,

Yes you're right, that sounds more like a bug or a configuration error. I'd suggest adding a support ticket as well, and mentioning the issue you've already raised. The support tickets are usually dealt with quicker, and if it is a bug, then they can escalate the bug for you.

I am using JIRA 6.4.1 and I can only see eleven widgets and I do not have watched issues widget. Why is that?
