JIRA is now available as three separate applications, JIRA Software, JIRA Service Desk, and JIRA Core. For more information on administering these applications, refer to the Administering JIRA Applications documentation.

Browsing a Project's Components

JIRA's Components report shows a summary of all components (if any have been created) in a project. You can search for components by text contained within the component's name or description.

To browse a project's components,

  1. On the top navigation bar, click the white triangle next to Projects. The projects dropdown will display.
(tick) Tip: You can access your current project directly by simply clicking the Projects link instead of the triangle.
  2. Click the project you wish to browse. If the project is not displayed in the dropdown, click View All Projects, which allows you to view a list of all accessible projects on your JIRA site, and select your project from there.
  3. Click Components on the left of the page. A list of components for your project will display (see screenshot below).
    • Click the name of a component to view all the issues related to the component.

can someone explain to me the difference between a component and a structure? if I were to have a project, "website" and wanted to include parts of the project as "shopping pages" and "contact us" pages ... would i use a structure or a component for each page?

When I view the components list for my project at the end I see an entry "Irrelevant" - it is not a component and not highlighted so there is no link - but there are 62 issues associated with it.  Can anyone tell me why this has happened and how I go about fixing it.  I have a number of issues that have not yet been allocated a component but there are a log more than 62.

I've noticed that the "Irrelevant" issues have issue types that don't have the Component field as part of their Issue Screen (i.e. you wouldn't see/use the Component field for the issue), therefore making these issues irrelevant to the Component summary table.

Is there a way to reorder a project's components?
