Adding a gadget to a dashboard

You can add gadgets to your personal dashboards to get a quick look at reports and issues. You can also update any shared dashboards you have permission to. To add a gadget to the system dashboard, you must be a Jira admin. To add a gadget:

  1. Go the dashboard you want to update.
  2. Click Add gadget.
  3. Search for the gadget you want and click Add gadget. You can then customize and rearrange the gadget from the dashboard.

Note about external gadgets:

External gadgets are no longer supported in Jira Cloud applications. See this article for more information.

Customizing how gadgets look

There are a few ways you can customize the view of gadgets in a dashboard:

To Do this
Collapse and expand a gadget

To collapse a gadget into just the gadget header, hover over the gadget header > click more () > Minimize.

To expand a collapsed gadget, hover over the gadget header > click more () > Expand.

Maximize a gadget

To maximize the gadget to take up the entire dashboard, hover over the gadget header > click more () > Minimize.

To restore the gadget to its original size, hover over the expanded gadget > click more () > Restore.

Notes...

This maximized view often provides more functionality than is available in the standard view of the gadget. However, only some gadgets provide the maximized or canvas view. The canvas view setting is stored in a cookie, and is not saved to the dashboard server.

Rearrange gadgets Click and drag the gadget's header.

Customize the gadget's settings

Hover over the gadget header > click more () > Edit.
Delete a gadget Hover over the gadget header > click more () > Delete.
Change the color of the gadget's frame Hover over the gadget header > click more () > select the color from the palette.
