An invalid column type error occurred when user creating a JIRA backup

Problem
The problem happens when user try to create an XML backup from JIRA 6.4.x.
The following appears in the atlassian-jira.log
An exception occurred backing up: org.ofbiz.core.util.GeneralRuntimeException: Error creating GenericValue (SQL Exception while getting value: (Invalid column type: getBLOB not implemented for class oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CLongRawAccessor))
Diagnosis
Environment
Oracle 12c
Cause
Some of the DB entries is not retrieved as BLOB column type.
Workaround
Run integrity checker to fix any errors are appearing in the screen.
