Create issues on software projects using the JSM Operations Sync feature

Platform Notice: Cloud - This article applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

Use the Sync feature from Jira Service Management Operations to create issues in software projects.

Automation in Operations doesn't create software project issues

Jira Service Management Operations include an automation feature. However, it can't create tickets in software projects directly from alerts generated via Operations. This is because Incident Management features are exclusive to service projects.

Use Operations Syncs to create software project issues

The Sync feature allows for the automatic creation of a ticket in a software project each time an alert is generated.

Configure Sync

  1. Make sure you’re a Jira admin.

  2. Go to Settings > Products.

  3. Select Syncs from the sidebar (under Operations).

  4. Select Create sync.

  5. Choose your software project in the Project field.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Expand "Rules for taking actions against alerts" and check the box "Create and update issues against alerts created by integrations or other syncs".
  8. Click Add rule.
  9. Under filter alerts, select "Match one or more conditions below" or "Match all conditions below" according to your use case.
  10. Make sure to click on Turn on Now the rule.
  11. Save.
