Delete custom fields in team-managed projects

Learn how to delete custom fields in Jira cloud team-managed projects.

Solution

To delete custom fields in a team-managed project:

1. Navigate to the project containing the field.

2. Click on Project settings > Issue types.

3. Search through the Issue type entries to locate the field.

4. Click on the field name to expand the entry, then click Remove.

5. Once removed, locate the field in the right-hand column under Search all fields section, then click the trash can icon.

6. Click Delete to permanently delete the field.

Please note that permanently deleting a custom field will also delete all the data stored against that field, and this action can't be undone. It is recommended to back up your Jira site before permanently deleting fields.
