Free Space health check fails in Jira server
Platform Notice: Data Center Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the data center platform.
This check tests to see if there is enough free space to backup and restore the Lucene index (for more info about indexing see Search Indexing). It does this by verifying there is at least twice the current index size space available in the snapshot and/or temporary directory.
Understanding the Results
The check of disk space for index backup and recovery is ok. Index size is <index_size> and there is at least twice as much free space available.
There is sufficient disk space available.
Could not determine required space as index directory <directory> does not exist.
The directory does not exist.
Low disk space on device containing temporary directory (<directory>) - <# bytes> of free space remaining. Index backup and recovery may fail.
There is insufficient disk space available in the directory. The expected available size is greater than twice the current index size.
Low disk space on device containing snapshots directory (<directory>) - <# bytes> of free space remaining. Index backup may fail.
There is insufficient disk space available in the snapshot directory. The expected available size is greater than twice the current index size.
|The directory does not exist.||Verify that the directory exists on the file system.|
Unable to read data from directory due to a Permissions Error.
Check that the user that is running the JIRA process has read permissions on the given file system as per our Action in Jira server fails with FileNotFoundException KB article.
|Low disk space is available.||Check each node and the shared home to verify there is sufficient disk space.|

In case you are unable to troubleshoot and fix the problem by yourself, please create a support ticket at support.atlassian.com and attach the following information to the ticket:
- Take a Screenshot of the Health Check results.
- Collect a Support ZIP from each of the Data Centre nodes.
- Any collected information from the suggestions in this document.
