Starting Sprint fails with error TypeError: b is null

Problem
- Users are not able to start a sprint.
- No error appears in the atlassian-jira.log or the catalina.out files of Jira
- When trying to start a sprint, this error appears in the user's browser session:

Diagnosis
Diagnostic Steps
Jira handles Dates and Time in two different ways: Input and display.
- Input: Check the date and time formats as listed under Administration >> System >> Advanced Settings
- Display: Check the date and time formats under Administration >> System >> User Interface >> Look and Feel
When this error happens, it tends happen because Jira is set to use a different date or time input format. If this has happened on your system, you will see a "Revert" button appear next to each setting that has been altered from the default.

Cause
The date/time format for Jira has been set in such a way that Jira Software cannot understand how to store this date/time format for the sake of recording the sprint start/stop time.
Resolution
Revert the date time settings of Jira instance under Administration >> System >> Advanced Settings. After that, you should be able to start the Sprint.
Note: If you change the input, you might then also want to alter the display of these date/times in Administration >> System >> User Interface >> Look and Feel to correspond with this change.
