Group name does not show up in filter share search page or global permissions page
Platform Notice: Cloud - This article applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.
Summary
When a group is created on the admin page (https://admin.atlassian.com) or exists in the Directory > Groups section, it may not be visible in the filter share search or when assigning global permissions to a group, even when typing the group name. This occurs if the user conducting the search is not a member of the group. The solution involves adding oneself to the group and then navigating to Filters > All Filters > searching for the specific filter > Edit. In the drop-down menu, search for the group name; note that only groups the user is a part of will appear, aligning with the product design.
Environment
Jira Cloud
Cause
The absence of a group in the filter share search results from the searcher not being a member of that particular group. The system design dictates that only groups the user is part of will be visible in the search, ensuring security and relevance in filter sharing.
Solution
To resolve the issue and make the group visible in the filter share search:
Add Yourself to the Group:
- Navigate to the admin page (https://admin.atlassian.com) or the Directory > Groups section.
- Locate the relevant group and add yourself as a member.
Navigate to Filters > All Filters:
- Go to Filters > All Filters to access the list of available filters.
Edit the Desired Filter:
- Find and select the filter you want to edit.
Add Group to the Filter:
- In the Edit menu, locate the drop-down for groups.
- Search for and select the desired group; only groups you are a part of will be available.
This process ensures that the group is associated with your profile, enabling visibility in the filter share search according to the product design.
