Summary
You want Jira Group members to be able to use the Voting feature on the customer portal. For example, If a project admin wants to enable voting through the customer portal, they can simply build a pool of potential internal voters for a request without seeking individual access for each person.
Share request with group featurewas introduced with JSM version 5.9.0. For more details you may refer to the KB article Use Jira groups in your service projects
Sharing requests with Jira groups will contribute to the scalability of the service desk and customer management in your instance. Jira Service Management projects can now leverage Jira's user management model to manage customers in internal service desks and take advantage of integration with Jira. More details can be found in Jira Service Management 5.9.x release notes.
Solution
To achieve the requirement, you can follow the steps mentioned below.
Navigate to the Project Settings -> Customer Permissions and enable:
Allow sharing with customer groups added to this project.
Yes, any customer with portal access can vote directly in the portal.
Create a group via the User Management console and add the required customers to it.
The next step would be to add the group created above to the Service desk Project as Customers. To add a group as customers:
From your service project, go to Customers.
Select Add.
Navigate to the Groups tab and add an existing group.
You can find the groups you’ve added to the Customers list.
Login as a customer (say user1) on the customer portal and create a request. Also, share the request with the group created above.
Now login via some other customer (say user2) present in the same group and navigate to the same request. There you will see the Vote option and you can click on Vote for request.
