Unable to render {include} The included page could not be found.

Symptom

Pages are not rendering correctly in Internet Explorer 6, with page elements appearing to have incorrect styles, when using Apache mod_proxy and GZip compression. The CSS stylesheet is being downloaded in a form that IE 6 can't handle as binary files.

Cause

In addition to having GZip compression enabled in JIRA, the mod_deflate module was configured in Apache and this was causing the problem described above in Internet Explorer 6.

Resolution

Turn off the GZIP compression in JIRA under the Administration >> Global Settings >> General Configuration. You don't need to compress the data twice as Apache mod_deflate will do this for you.
