How to restrict changes on Approvers field in agent view

Platform Notice: Cloud - This article applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

Adding an approval step to a workflow means that specific team members must approve issues before they move along to the next status in that workflow.

When you add the approvers to the Workflow status, the field that contains the users is editable internally by the agents/admins.

Solution

If you don’t want the approvers to be modified, the solution is to remove the relevant field from the Edit/View screen:

  • Go to Project settings > Screens

  • Expand the options from the relevant Issue type

  • Click on the screen related to the “Edit issue" option

  • Remove the relevant field

The fields used as approvers need to have a default value set. It’s possible to achieve it by defining the default value of the custom fields:

  1. Select Cog icon > Issues.

  2. Under FIELDS, click Custom fields.

  3. Find the custom field you want to configure, click “…" > Contexts and default value.

  4. In the configuration scheme section, select Edit Default Value

  5. Enter a default value and click Set Default.

The approvers will show up on the agent view, but won’t be possible to edit them:
