Jira linked issues relationships are inverted

Summary

In Jira Cloud, all the relationships previously set on Jira issues have been automatically inverted. For example, "blocks" is changed to "is blocked by" and vice versa in the "linked issues" list.

Solution

Manually correct or rewrite the issue link types and associated descriptions

1. Navigate to Settings (cog icon) > Issues

2. Visit Issue linking

3. Click on Edit next to your problematic link type

   1. In this example, "blocks"

4. Set the Outward Description to 'blocks'

5. Set the Inward Description to 'is blocked by'

6. Click Update

7. Repeat steps 3-6 for any other inverted or incorrect issue link types

Common causes

In some cases, issue link descriptions can be inadvertently rewritten or malformed by marketplace add-ons. The most common add-ons related to this issue are used to create Gantt charts inside Jira.

Check for any Gantt chart add-ons that your site may have recently added, and if you suspect they may have caused the issue, contact the app support directly.
