Symptoms

• JIRA's outgoing mail server is using Gmail
• The From address is not using the 'From address' configured in the SMTP Mail Server configuration within JIRA
• The From address is not using the project email address for notifications

Cause

Gmail allows you to send email from a different address if you have the alternative sender's address linked to the mail server account.
