Summary
After upgrading Jira the Permlink icon on the comment is no longer found.
Environment
Jira 8.17 and later
Cause
In Jira 8.16 and earlier, the ability to link to a comment was available using a Permlink icon:
Link to a comment | Right-click on the Permlink icon on the comment, then copy the permanent link to the comment. Paste the copied permanent link into your email or chat message. Clicking the permanent link takes you to that particular comment in the Jira issue. If your Jira issue contains an extensive list of comments, the issue page will automatically be scrolled down so that the linked comment is visible. |
The Link to a comment feature changed in Jira 8.17 and later, and the link address is now included in the comment timestamp.
We understand that this change could be confusing for some users, so we have an open feature request for it: JRASERVER-72757 Lack of a Permalink feature in the new view in Jira 8.17 and later
Solution
Right-click on the comment timestamp, and then copy the link address. Paste the copied permanent link into your email or chat message. Clicking the permanent link takes you to that particular comment in the Jira issue. If your Jira issue contains an extensive list of comments, the issue page will automatically be scrolled down so that the linked comment is visible.
