Outgoing Mail Fails due to Out of Memory in Mail Server

Symptoms

Outgoing mail does not work in JIRA. Error messages like the following appear in the logs:


com.atlassian.mail.MailException: com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 452 4.3.1 Out of memory

Cause

The outgoing mail server (not JIRA) is running out of memory.

Resolution

The problem must be resolved by administrators of the outgoing mail server. Please refer to Microsoft's document for more information.
