Reset Jira data for the sites billed under the new billing engine.

Platform Notice: Cloud - This article applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

Sometimes the admins require a reset of Jira data from their site to run recurring migration tests. The current process to reset the data is explained in the below article:

However, we're replacing our existing billing infrastructure with a new billing engine that will provide a unified experience for billing and invoicing across all Atlassian cloud products. The current process to reset the data is not applicable for the sites billed under this new billing engine.

This document outlines the steps that the admins can perform to reset their data if their site is billed under the new billing engine.

Verify if the site is billed under the new billing Engine:

While the billing information was available at the site level in the legacy billing engine, the new setup shows this information at the organisation level. It is available under the Billing tab in the Atlassian admin hub (https://admin.atlassian.com). The functionality and interface for each billing experience are also different. Please refer to the below document for details and the key differences between the two:

How do you know which experience you’re viewing?

Workaround for sites that are billed under the new billing Engine:

Please follow the below workaround to reset all the data from your site:

  1. Create a new site.
  2. Take a backup of this empty site. You may refer to the below document if required:
    Create a Jira Cloud backup
  3. Restore this backup on your existing site which needs to be reset.
  4. This will overwrite the existing data, and the site will be reset.

Please note that this process will overwrite all the existing data on your current site and we don't have a way to restore it. If you believe this data might be required later, please take a backup of the site you're going to reset.
