When posting a request to /rest/api/2/search with the following (example) POST body:

{"jql": "project = PROJ ORDER BY key ASC","startAt":0,"maxResults":500,"fields":["id","key","summary","","issuetype","timeoriginalestimate","timeestimate"]}

Where the project PROJ is an archived project, the following message is shown:

{"errorMessages":["The value 'PROJ' does not exist for the field 'project'."],"errors":{}}

An archived project is typically a project with an empty permission scheme. No one will be able to search on that project since there is no access to it.

There are two possible resolutions:

  • Changing the project's permissions;
  • Creating a specific user for REST API calls with permissions over the archived projects enabling it to search on it.
