"Something's gone wrong" error when deleting sprint in Company Managed Project

Platform Notice: Cloud - This article applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

A user attempts to delete a sprint in a company-managed project but gets the error: "Something's gone wrong."

Confirm user is granted Manage Sprints permission

To delete Jira sprints, a user must have the Manage Sprints project permission for every project included in the sprint they are trying to delete

Check which projects are included in the sprint board

  1. Visit your project's board
  2. Select ... (More options) > Configure board
  3. In the General tab, scroll to the board's filter and expand Filter details

The Projects in board section should list a few projects. Users must have Manage Sprints permission for all of these projects to delete sprints on this board.

If you don't see a list of projects, but instead see a warning message like "We can't show the projects on this board," you'll need to modify your board's filter JQL.

Edit filter query to define included projects

A filter query is considered complex when Jira Software can't determine which projects will be returned by the query. When this happens, Jira Software will require users to have the 'Manage Sprints' permission for all projects in the instance to manage sprints on that board.

Alternatively, you can rewrite the board's filter syntax so that it explicitly includes a list of projects.

Please follow our documentation on removing JQL filter complexity: Use manage sprints permission for advanced cases
