JIRA OnDemand – fixes and changes
Tempo plugin upgrade
The Tempo plugin for JIRA has been upgraded from 18.104.22.168 to 22.214.171.124. This upgrade fixed the issue that caused drop-down menus in Tempo to become unusable in last week's OnDemand release. For more details about the fixed issue, see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-27955.
Change to configuring announcement banners
Reiterating a late addition to last week's release summary announcement — if you are configuring an announcement banner, please note that we changed the formatting functionality of the Announcement field from HTML to wiki markup. Help on wiki markup syntax is provided by clicking the question mark icon under the Announcement field.23 April

JIRA OnDemand – new features and changes
If you're faced with the task of creating multiple users in your Atlassian OnDemand instance, you'll be happy to know that Atlassian OnDemand now includes the new Invite Users feature. This feature lets you email invitations that allow people to sign up to your Atlassian OnDemand instance. You just need a list of email addresses and a single click of a button.
Please note, this feature is not available to customers with Confluence OnDemand only, nor customers with Google Apps enabled for their instances.
A JIRA user who either creates a new issue or comments on an existing issue, will automatically become a watcher of that issue.
This feature applies to all new and existing users that have JIRA access.
JIRA users can easily disable this feature through their user profile by choosing Disabled for their Autowatch option when editing the Preferences section of their user profile.
Notify on my actions now disabled by default
By default, any new JIRA users will no longer be automatically notified of their own actions.
JIRA users can change this option through their user profile by choosing Notify me for their My Changes option when editing the Preferences section of their user profile.
Automatically suggested project keys
When creating a new project, the Add a new project dialog box now suggests a project Key based on the Name you specify.
Better performance when mentioning users on issues
You should now see significant performance improvements when mentioning other JIRA users in an issue's Description or Comment field.
Change to configuring announcement bannersIf
Bonfire has been upgraded to 2.1.1. This upgrade includes a number of enhancements and new features, for example:
- improved screenshot annotations
- multiple related issues for a test session
- JQL integration

Creating issues from email
This release brings a popularly-voted feature to JIRA OnDemand — support for issue and comment creation of from email messages (JST-5649).
Administrators can now:
- configure JIRA OnDemand to read email messages from one or more POP or IMAP mail servers and
- add mail handlers to create new issues or issue comments from any messages received by these mail servers.

Confluence OnDemand – new features
Recommended content by email
Confluence sends out a daily or weekly summary of the top news that is relevant to you. This is a great way of drawing people into the wiki discussions even if they are infrequent users of Confluence. The report shows the most popular content in the wiki, based on the number of likes and comments, and recently-created pages or blog posts. Confluence gives a higher ranking to activity by people in your network or in your favourite spaces. A link in the email message allows you to choose daily or weekly notifications, or to turn the notification off.
The Recommended Updates notification is turned off by default in Confluence OnDemand.
To turn this notification on:
- If your site has Confluence only, choose Browse > Confluence Admin. Click Recommended Updates Email in the left-hand panel.
- If you site has multiple applications, go to your_username > Administration > Wiki > Configuration > Recommended Updates Email.
Page layouts offer a quick and easy way to add sections and columns to a page. Choose a predefined layout, add the content to each section, and you're done. It's a great way of creating a common page structure, so that readers know where to find the information on each page. Don't worry, the Section and Column macros are still available too.

Has someone written a mind-bogglingly clever post on Confluence? Did you laugh out loud at someone's comment? Click Like to them know. Confluence has like buttons on every page, blog post and comment. If enough people like the post, it will show up on the dashboard's new 'Popular' tab and in the 'Recommended Updates' summary sent by email.
Showing people a picture of themselves is a great way to encourage them to say something! We have added an enticingly empty comment at the bottom of every page, with the user's profile picture. This replaces the rather uninviting Add Comment button in earlier versions of Confluence. And here's what we are really proud of: When you click the box to write a comment, the full editor loads instantly. No page refresh required. Pow!
Popular content on the dashboard
The new 'Popular' tab on the dashboard shows the pages, blog posts and comments that are attracting most attention, based on the number of comments and likes they have received. The items are listed in order of popularity, with the most popular at the top. Activity that involves people in your network ranks higher than activity not involving your network, and the most recent activity ranks higher than earlier activity.

Labels on attachments
You can now label attachments, just as you can label pages and blog posts.
- Using the Gallery macro, you can display a selection of images on your page filtered by label.
- The Attachments macro and the Space Attachments macro can show documents or other attachments with a specific label.
- The Content by Label macro also displays attachments (alongside pages, blog posts and spaces) with a given label, and you can filter by content type to show only attachments.

Other improvementsAuthor lozenge on blog post comments:
You will see an 'author' lozenge on blog comments, making it easy to scan a post for comments from the author. The author lozenge appears only on blog posts, and only for the original creator of the post.
Share notifications showing all people notified:
When someone shares a page with you, the email message shows the other people they shared it with too.
Mouse-free macros, links and images:
This is one for wiki markup fans! Now you can add macros, links and images by wiki markup alone. Type the macro, including its parameters and the closing curly bracket. Add a link, such as an anchor link, and end it with a square bracket. Insert an image or other embedded object, enclosed between exclamation marks. As soon as you close the macro, link, or embedded image, Confluence will convert it to rich text format and add it to the page. See the video.

Personal spaces more open:
The permissions for personal spaces are now more in line with Confluence's philosophy of encouraging collaboration. When you create your personal space, the option that allows registered users to update content is selected by default. You will also be assigned as a watcher of your new personal space. Existing settings remain unchanged on upgrade.

Confluence-only OnDemand sites — new features and changes
This section applies to Atlassian OnDemand customers whose sites run Confluence OnDemand only.
Inviting people to sign up via a URL
You can now invite people to sign up by sending them a URL. You can also choose between public and private signup modes, and decide whether you want a notification each time someone signs up. See the documentation.

Notification of signups enabled now
By default, Confluence now sends an email notification to all Confluence administrators whenever someone signs up to the Confluence site, either by clicking the 'Sign Up' link or by clicking the invitation URL sent by an administrator. The notification is enabled by default.
You may want to disable the notification after this week's Confluence upgrade, especially if you allow public signup and are expecting a large number of signups.
To disable the notification:
The email notification includes a link to change notification settings. Alternatively, follow these steps:
- Click Add Users on the dashboard.
Or take the longer route: Choose Browse > Confluence Admin. Click Users > Add User.
- Remove the tick from Notify administrators when users sign up.
JIRA OnDemand — new features
Further Administration user interface improvements
Continuing on with improvements to the Administration User Interface (UI), further improvements have been implemented into the Administration UI, with a redesign of the pages for administering issue types, including a more streamlined configuration process for adding field configurations and screens.
The original 'sub-tab' for adding issue type schemes has been converted to a full tab on the left of the Administration UI and the form for adding an issue type scheme is now a dialog box, which is easily accessed by clicking the Add Issue Type Scheme button at the top-right of the Issue Type Scheme page.
Whenever you add a field configuration (+ scheme) or a screen, screen scheme or issue type screen scheme, you will be taken directly to the pages for configuring any of these newly created entities, thereby saving you the need to locate such an entity in a list and click its Configure link. This is especially useful for customers with highly configured JIRA OnDemand sites that contain extensive lists of these entities.
The following performance issue has been fixed. Searches that retrieve many thousands of issues are performed more rapidly.
