Incompatible "Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager Self-Update" app after Jira upgrade

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Summary

After upgrading to Jira Software 9, an incompatible app message for the Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager Self-Update app is observed.

Environment

Jira 9 or later.

Diagnosis

After upgrade from Jira Software 8 or lower to Jira 9 or higher,  within Settings > Manage Apps > Manage Apps a message that Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager Self-Update app is incompatible with the current Jira installation can be seen.  

Cause

Jira version 9 and later no longer uses Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager Self-Update app.  It's functionality is now part of the Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager app.

Solution

As long as the Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager app is updated and compatible the Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager Self-Update app can be safely removed.
