How to enable the 'Assign to me'

Summary

This article provides details on the necessary permissions to activate the 'Assign to me' feature in the issue view.

Note: this button is not available in the 'issue create' screen.

The 'Assign to me' button enables the user to modify the assignee of the issue without having to manually search for a user in the designated field.

In the backlog, you can also assign an issue to yourself using the keyboard shortcut by ticking a box next to an issue to select it and pressing the letter 'I' on your keyboard. Without the appropriate permissions, this keyboard shortcut will not work.

Solution

The 'Assign to me' requires the following permission/s:

For Company-managed projects:

  • Assignable User

    Users with this permission may be assigned to issues.

  • Assign Issues

    Ability to assign issues to other people.

For Team-managed projects:

  • Assign any issue

    This permission allows people to change the value of the Assignee field on any of your project’s issues.
