Bamboo distributes builds across different machines, local, remote and elastic. A local agent is a build that runs on the server machine, while a remote agent is a build that runs on any other machine in the network that Bamboo can access. An elastic agent is simply a remote agent running in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). When a build is detected, the Bamboo server will automatically and intelligently distribute the builds to the available agents.
