Viewing Charts for your Released Versions

To view the charts for released versions,

  1. Log into JIRA.
  2. Select Agile > Classic in the top navigation bar. Then select Classic Released Board from the drop-down below the project name.
  3. Select your project from the project dropdown in the top left of the Classic Released Board.
  4. Select your version from the version dropdown in the top left of the Classic Released Board.
    • The selected version will be shown in a yellow box in the right-hand column of the Classic Released Board (see screenshot 1 above. Note that, in the right-hand column, a released version is shown in a box with an unbroken outline, while an unreleased version is shown in a box with a dotted outline.
  5. Select your desired chart from the charts dropdown in the top left of the Classic Released Board. Choose from:
    • Burndown Chart
    • Hour Burndown Chart
    • Issue Burndown Chart
    • Burnup Chart
    • Value Chart
  6. The Classic Released Board will refresh and display the chart specified (see screenshot 2 below).
    • To view the chart in full-screen (i.e. without the JIRA header displayed), click the Views drop-down menu at the top of the page (see screenshot 1 above) and select Full Screen.
    • To view the chart centred on the screen (i.e. without the right-hand column displayed), click the icon at the top of the right-hand column of the page (see screenshot 1 above).
    • To print the chart, select Print Chart from the drop-down menu that appears in the right-hand column of the page when you hover over the yellow box for the selected version (see screenshot 1 above).

    1) I usually run a sprint of 1 week and it mostly happens that whatever we plan for doesnt get completed. So when i release the version at the end of the week i move the unfinished task to the next version. now what happens is that the burn down chart of the version getting released gets skewed and hits x-axis even though it has not. The reason it hits x-axis is probably because i move all those undone tasks to next version. So how do i get the real burndown chart indicating how we actually fared?

    2) Regarding the same scenario as above, when i generate the weekly report for the sprint, it only gives the report of the tasks completed, how do i get a weekly report stating "what we planned" vs. "what we achieved"...to be shown to my manager and also an improvement for the team...

    3) How do i see the timesheet of any individual for the whole of the sprint cycle once its done, is there any view to get that....

    1. 1) & 2). Please use the "Release" mechanism on the Planning Board, and move the issue as part of the Release process (ie. please don't move them beforehand). See http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/GH/Using+the+Planning+Board#UsingthePlanningBoard-PlanningBoardIssues

      1. Rosy,

I attempted to follow the directions for Releasing a Version so that our Released Board chart would show our burn down at the time of release. However that doesn't seem to be the case. Example: Version X has 4 issues, 2 open, 2 done, 16 hours burned, 8 hours left for the two open issues. If I look at the Chart Board, my Remaining values are 8, Team Effort is 16 on the last day of the version.

If I click the Release button in the Planning board I'm prompted to do something about the unfinished issues. If I do nothing about the unfinished issues, the Released Chart board's hour burndown chart looks correct. Remaining is 8, effort is 16. However, if I move the issues to the next version or unscheduled, the Remaining value is now 0.

From the documentation it seems that the act of Releasing a version should take a snap shot of your version at that point and those snapshots should be what appears in the Released Board. That does not seem to be the case. Please help.

        Thanks,

        Rich

    Hi Guys,

Loving Jira w/ Greenhopper. How do I use the "Print cards" feature (or even see the cards) for a version which has already been released? I can see them in the issue navigator but I'd like to have the same Greenhopper view that I can get in the Planning Board. It's understandable that a released version wouldn't show up in the planning board anymore, but how can I browse the "cards" for that released version? I wasn't able to find a way to do this in the documentation. Apologies if I should be posting this question elsewhere.

    Thanks for any help!

    Peter

    1. Hi Peter,

It is not possible to view the cards in GreenHopper for released versions. You can view a summary of the release using the Release Notes option under the cog dropdown when you hover over a version on the Released Board.

For the Using a Board we'll be looking to amend this behaviour so that you can view the cards alongside charts for a release.

      Thanks Peter.

      Regards,
