Statistics can help you track your management constraints such as hours versus developers, velocity, etc. GreenHopper allows you to view burndown, burnup and value charts for each field giving you a number visual aids for your project planning.

On this page:

Viewing Statistics via your Planning Board

Every box of your GreenHopper Planning Board column (i.e. 'Project Overview', 'Version', 'Component', 'Assignee') will display some statistics based on the nature of the box (see Using Planning Board Modes to View Issues). These statistics can be divided in four groups:

  1. Issue Type Statistics — Always displayed.
  2. Stats based on the Task Board mapping — Always displayed.
  3. Timetracking Statistics — Only displayed if JIRA timetracking is enabled.
  4. Custom Statistics — Displayed if any number fields were added as custom stats by the project administrator. For example, you may want to record story points against each issue. The story points can then be added as a statistic on your Planning Board.

Adding Custom Statistics

To add a custom statistic to your Planning Board,

  1. Log into JIRA.
  2. Select Agile > Classic in the top navigation bar. Then select Classic Planning Board from the drop-down below the project name.
  3. Click the 'Stats' link. The 'Statistics' window will display, listing the statistics currently displayed on your Planning Board.
  4. Click the 'Add a Number Field to your Project' link. A new add field page will display.
  5. Fill out the fields (accept all field defaults and select whether you want the custom field to apply to a specific project or globally). See Adding a Custom Field for detailed instructions. Make sure you add the custom field to at least one screen.
(info) Please note, your field must be associated with the 'number searcher' to work properly.
  6. Your custom field will be added to the project and will display in the boxes shown in the right-hand column of your planning board (see the 'Viewing Statistics via your Planning Board' section above). Your custom field will also be available on your issues screens for you to populate (depending on what screens you selected at field creation).

(tick) GreenHopper allows you to view various charts based on any new custom statistics fields created. They will be accessible via the Chart Board.
