This is a walkthrough on the installer for the SharePoint features provided by the Confluence SharePoint Connector.

Uninstall Previous Version

The previous version of the SharePoint Connector for Confluence did not have an installer for SharePoint. If you previously installed this product you should remove the Http Module from web.config that was manually put there in the previous beta release. Note that you do not need to remove any Confluence web parts from pages and you do not need Crowd for this release.

Run the Installer

In your download you should have two files within a zip:

  • ConfluenceSharePointConnector.msi
  • setup.exe

Run setup.exe and you should see the following screen. Note that the setup requires that you are logged in as an administrative user and for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 to be installed.

Click next.

SharePoint Host URL

Each SharePoint site collection has a URL for the root of the site collection. Enter the URL for the site collection in which you want to have the Confluence web parts available. This URL is typically not http://localhost. Change the default to the URL of your site collection.

Note that if you want to install the feature on multiple site collections, the recommended approach is to run this installer on another SharePoint server and enter the URL for another site collection. When running this install, do not select the search feature (see below) as it only needs to be installed once for the farm.

Click next.

Install Confluence Search Feature

The Confluence SharePoint Connector has two SharePoint features:

  • Atlassian.Confluence.SharePoint - provides web parts functionality and base functionlity
  • Atlassian.Confluence.SharePoint.Search - provides integrated search functionality

The former is required and will be installed. The latter is optional. Check the box if you want integrated search.

Click next.

Select Installation Folder

Select the installation folder. The default is fine. Note the directory for the install as it will contain installation log files for your review later if you think there was an installation problem. Note that the files in the installation directory are not used after installation.

Click next.

Confirm Installation

Confirm that you are ready to perfom the installation based on the settings you have provided. Once you click next the SharePoint features will be installed.

Click next.

Installation Progress

During installation a screen pops up showing you the installation progress. This can take a few minutes and will run for the Atlassian.Confluence.SharePoint feature as well as the Atlassian.Confluence.SharePoint.Search feature if you selected it.

The screen shows several steps:

  • Deactivate Feature
  • Uninstall Feature
  • Retract Solution
  • Delete Solution
  • Add Solution
  • Deploy Solution
  • Install Feature
  • Activate Feature

Each feature is packaged into a solution (.wsp file). Note that the first four steps fail because they are taking an extra measure to ensure that the feature is properly uninstalled. These error messages are OK and expected. Those first four feaures are performed during an uninstall.

When all of the above steps are complete, the screen will close on its own. There will be a log file in the installation directory with everything shown in the installation progress screen.

Readme

After installation, the following information is displayed. If you had a previous version of this product installed, you should perform an IISRESET to make the new features available.
