Symptoms

You are able to import all the data from a CSV file into Jira. However, the dates are not properly imported, either in a wrong format or completely skipped. It causes discrepancies on several fields (e.g. Resolved, Updated, Created).

Cause

This error occurs because the format in which the dates are disposed in the CSV file doesn't match the date format chosen before starting the import.

Resolution

If you have multiple date formats in the CSV file, it's best to convert all of them to only use a single format.

In the setup screen of CSV import, make sure you choose the right date format that matches exactly what you have in your CSV.

Be sure to look at the date in a plain text file and not Excel since Excel formats the dates in a standard way.

If you wish to import issue dates such as created, updated or resolved, make sure you select fields that are Issue Fields and not Custom Fields
