GreenHopper Labs enables our customers to test some exciting new functionality within GreenHopper, giving you a sneak preview of new features coming in future releases of GreenHopper:

To switch 'Labs' on:

  1. Log in as a user with the 'JIRA Administrators' global permission.
  2. Click the 'Administration' link on the top bar, then select 'JIRA Administration' from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select 'General Configuration' from the 'GreenHopper' section of the administration menu.
  4. Under 'GreenHopper Labs', select the features that are of interest to you.

'Plan' mode (ie. Scrum) on the Rapid Board

Turn on the 'Scrum' option to enable the 'Plan' tab on Rapid Boards that were created using the 'Scrum' preset.

(warning) Note that you will need to reindex JIRA after turning on the GreenHopper 'Scrum' option in Labs. The Plan tab is only available on new rapid views that have been created with the 'Scum' preset.

On the Plan tab you can:

  • Prioritise the Backlog — Create issues for your backlog, rank and estimate them, and pull the marker down to grab a set of issues you'd like to tackle for your first iteration.
  • Estimate Stories — You can use the 'J' and 'K' keys to move through issues in the backlog and get details on the right-hand side of the screen. Plug in your estimates or story points as you go.
  • Plan, and Plan Again — When you're happy with the stories for the iteration, click the 'Start Sprint' button and the stories will move onto the Work Tab. While a sprint is active on the Work tab, you can still plan a subsequent iteration on the Plan tab, but you won't be able to start it until the active iteration is completed. Note that you can only start (or complete) a sprint if you have 'Project Administrator' permission for all issues in the sprint.

We'd love to know how you like the Plan tab, and if you have ideas for improvements, please let us know on Atlassian Answers or give GreenHopper feedback.
