The Metadata macro allows you to embed metadata into pages and blog posts for presentation with the Detailssummary Macro. Each metadata item consists of a field name and an associated value. When a Metadata macro is rendered on a page, each metadata item is presented as a table row, with the field name followed by its value, for example:

Is-Secret

Yes

Author-Nickname

Banana Split

The metadata added to a page using the Metadata macro is 'tagged', or identified, by adding a label to the page. This allows the Detailsummary macro to generate a summary based on Metadata macros from all pages that have each had the same page label added to them.

Using the Metadata Macro

  1. Add the Metadata macro to a page:
    1. In the Confluence editor, choose Insert > Other Macros.
    2. Find and select the required macro.

Speeding up macro entry with autocomplete:

Type { and the beginning of the macro name, to see a list of suggested macros. Details are in Using Autocomplete.

To edit an existing macro: Click the macro placeholder and choose Edit. This will display the parameters of the macro in the Macro Browser.

  2. Add metadata items as rows in a table inserted into the macro placeholder.

For example, the screenshot below shows a table, with rows containing metadata items, in the macro's placeholder.

  3. Add a label to the page to 'tag' the page.

For example, the current page has a 'test' label. This label is used by the example Detailssummary macro on the Detailssummary Macro page.
