  1. Confluence is a pure Java application and should run on this platform provided the JDK requirement is satisfied.
  2. While some of our customers run Confluence on SPARC-based hardware, Atlassian only officially supports Confluence running on x86 hardware and 64-bit derivatives of x86 hardware.
  3. Ensure that you configure your Confluence MySQL database to use the InnoDB storage engine as the MyISAM storage engine could lead to data corruption.
  4. HSQLDB: Confluence ships with a built-in HSQL database. While this database is fine for evaluation purposes, it is somewhat susceptible to data loss during system crashes. Hence, for production environments, we recommend that you configure Confluence to use an external database
  5. Internet Explorer 8 and 9 do not support the drag-and-drop functionality of HTML5. As Confluence relies on this functionality, the drag-and-drop experience in Internet Explorer 8 and 9 is not complete.
  6. The latest stable version of Firefox is also supported.
  7. The latest stable version of Chrome is also supported. Chrome does not have WEBDAV / plugin support so features such as Edit in Word for attachments will not work. Please refer to CONF-23322 for information on the progress of the issue.
  8. The latest stable version of Safari is also supported. Confluence does not support editing in Mobile Safari on iOS devices (such as iPhone and iPad). Please refer to CONF-19524 for information on the progress of this issue.
  9. Confluence is tested with these versions of Internet Explorer in standards-compliant rendering mode, not compatibility mode. Enabling compatibility mode may cause problems because it emulates older, unsupported rendering modes.

May I suggest adding an additional footnote for Windows 64-bit compatibility since there is a problem with running Confluence as a service.

I can't seem to find the how-to on installing Confluence as client version on OSX. Any chance one will be coming soon?

    1. Dec 05, 2011

By “client platform”, we mean that you can use your Mac to access a Confluence site.

If you want to run Confluence as a server on Mac OS X, we don’t support it and don’t have any documentation for it, but you should be fine with the Linux distribution on any recent version of OS X.

I see DB2 9.7 isn't listed as supported now (2011/12/13), although there is no End of Support announcement for it.  I also see that google cache shows DB2 9.7 as supported for 4.0  (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aunofficial&client=firefox-a&hl=en&q=cache:_Bc1GvwfnqkJ:http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Supported+Platforms+confluence+4.0+and+db2+support&ct=clnk)

So is this a mistake?  Or should I be concerned about our corporate database platform going forward?

    1. Dec 13, 2011

I believe this change was a mistake, Anthony. I'll confirm the current support status of DB2 with our product management team and get back to you shortly.

Update: apologies for the mistake, I've restored DB2 9.7 to the supported platforms list above. We have no plans to drop DB2 support.

        Many thanks for clarification Matt!

  4. Dec 14, 2011

PostgreSQL 9 is now installed when upgrading to Ubuntu Server 11.10.

Can we have PostgreSQL 9 tested and added to the list?

    1. Dec 14, 2011

Hi Tin, our PostgreSQL 9 build is pretty stable: I would say is safe to use it.

      1. Dec 14, 2011

        Thanks Adrian,

Great to know. I'll try it then on one of my environments and also note if I notice any issue.

        1. Dec 29, 2011

I am installing with PostgreSQL 9.1.2-windows-x64.exe One-Click installer and the 64 bit Confluence Installer.  It's been fine so far.  If I have any issue I will post back here.

          1. Dec 29, 2011

That's great. Our PostgreSQL build runs on Linux btw.
