Summary

In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to check for macro usage in Confluence Cloud.

All macros

This list shows how often each macro is used in your site. We‘ve organized the list by the app that provides the macro, and included both user-installed apps and apps bundled with Confluence.

Unused macros

The following macros are provided by user-installed apps and are not used on any content (not including items in archive spaces). This information is helpful if you‘re about to disable or remove an app and want to make sure it‘s not used.

Environment

Confluence Cloud

Solution

  1. Access your Confluence Administration screen.
  2. On the left navigation, go to the Data Management section, and then go to the Macro Usage option.
  3. The direct link will have the following pattern: https://INSTANCE_URL.atlassian.net/wiki/admin/macro-usage

On this page, you as a Product or Site Admin basically check for many Apps and their respective macro usage in terms of current pages/blogs that contain/use the macro. When you click on the links available, you will get a result search listing all the pages/blogs that are currently making use of such apps/macros.

Example:

Important Notes

Note: Your user will only be able to see the results for pages/blogs that it currently has access to. Pages/blogs that are restricted to your user won't appear along on the search results due to the restrictive permissions.

  • AI-555 Cannot do site-wide search for macros used on pages
  • ECO-470 Usage statistics for third party apps
    • CONFCLOUD-73272: "Macro usage" page to include all macros
    • CONFCLOUD-73281The "Macro usage" page may not show exact numbers due to user permissions in the pages
