Purpose

To disable the "Welcome" page received by new users when logging into Confluence for the first time.

This is also useful to avoid new users to be forced to watch spaces, if you are running a Confluence version prior to the implementation of CONFSERVER-40215 - Getting issue details... STATUS
This might be also useful to avoid the behaviour reported in Authentication in Confluence with DUO as MFA triggers an endless loop for new users

Solution

To disable the welcome message for all users, complete the following steps to disable the Onboarding Filter:

  1. Go to Manage apps.
  2. Choose System from the drop-down menu.
  3. Search for "confluence-onboarding".
  4. Expand all modules.
  5. Disable the Onboarding Filter.
  6. After disabling, new users won't be redirected to the /welcome.action page the first time they log into Confluence. Instead, they will be redirected to the Confluence Dashboard.

Description

To disable the "Welcome" page received by new users when logging into Confluence for the first time. This is also useful to avoid new users to be forced to watch spaces, as the feature request for this is still open.
