    Hello,

I have Conflunence running on a WIN2008 Server R2 Standard SP1 on VMware , still i had a bad/slow performance. Can you explain were i can find Conlfuence home directory, Confluence Index Directory  and what they mean with all database-related directories and were i can find these directories

    1. Hi anonymous, the Confluence documentation contains information on the Confluence Home Directory and Confluence Data Directory Configuration.  There is also useful information relating to Performance Tuning including information on troubleshooting slow performance.  I hope these docs point you in the right direction. If not, you might want to log a request with our Support team for assistance.

I couldn't find it anywhere else, the sidebar in our trial of 5.1.4 does not show more than two tiers of pages. The "Tree Browser" on the "Pages" page of the Space is expandable, but the sidebar isn't.

Tree Browser therefore can be expanded out to -

    • Space
      • Tier 1
      • Tier 1
        • Tier 2
        • Tier 2
          • Tier 3
      • Tier 1
        • Tier 2
          • Tier 3
          • Tier 3

Whereas the side displays the same content as -

    • Space
      • Tier 1
      • Tier 1
      • Tier 1

     Have I missed a setting?

    1. Hi Anonymous,  the sidebar in the default theme is designed to show only the current page and its children.  If you want to see a full tree-like structure in your sidebar (as you see in the sidebar on this page), I suggest using the Documentation theme instead.  You can find information about how to turn on the Documentation theme here - Configuring the Documentation Theme

My thanks as well for this information. This was driving me nuts.

Excellent! Any chance you can point to the documentation where it shows how to remove the sidebar in the viewpageattachments.action page? Right now it is taking up 1/6 of the screen and there is no toggle to hide it. The file names are limited to 14 characters and this is just plaint annoying.

Or, is that the sidebar is showing on the viewattachments page a bug and a ticket needs to be raised to have it fixed? It looks like a bug.. the sidebar should only show on content pages.

        1. The sidebar remains visible when you view attachments, page history, page information from the Tools menu on the page. There is however a bug reported here CONF-28203 - In the Documentation Theme, it is impossible to toggle sidebar display when viewing Attachments Open  that the Show / Hide sidebar is not functioning correctly on the Attachments page.

If you do want more screen space when viewing attachments, you can use the [ keyboard shortcut to hide the sidebar before you select Tools > Attachments. You'll need to return to the page view to show the sidebar again (because of the bug above).

  6. Would it be possible to add documentation of HipChat?

    1. Hi Clemens, the HipChat help documentation can be found here http://help.hipchat.com/.  I'll add the link to this page to make it easier to find.

  7. The Atlassian service is superb. Thank you, Rachel.
