Unwanted email notifications from an unwatched repository

Platform Notice: Cloud - This article applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Purpose

This KB article explains the potential cause behind unwanted email notifications and provides a solution to turn them off.

Diagnosis

Identify the email notifications activity source:

  • Pull request
  • Commit
  • Mention
  • Access change for repository or workspace.

Cause

While you are not watching a repository, an email notification will be sent to you with the following conditions:

  1. Another user mentions you in a comment (Commit or PR)

  2. You create the pull request, and it automatically adds you as the PR watcher
  3. Someone adds you as a reviewer on a pull request
  4. Your access change for the repository or workspace

Solution

All of these notifications can be turned off under the Personal Settings; https://bitbucket.org/account/settings/notifications/

Disable Email - This will disable all email notifications from Bitbucket.

Watching email - You can review which repositories, Pull requests, Issues, and Snippets you are currently watching. Manage it to unwatch any unwanted email notifications.

Email me about - The options are for a behavior impact, such as someone mentioning you, access to a repository, or workspace change and updates from Bitbucket/Atlassian.
