Problem

On attempting to import an archive using the Data Center Migration feature, the import job fails as 'aborted' and the following exception can be found in the job messages:

Exception executing callback 'importEntry' on 'class com.atlassian.stash.internal.migration.InstanceDetailsImporter': 'Archive version '2' is not supported by this installation. Supported versions: 1'

Cause

This error is caused when an archive taken from a later version of Bitbucket Data Center (7.0) is imported into a lower version of Bitbucket Data Center (<7.0)

Resolution

Currently there is no way to be able to restore a newer archive format into an instance that only uses lower archive formats. For those interested in consolidating two instances using these two different archive versions, it is recommended that the archive be imported into the Bitbucket 7.0 instance - which is backwards-compatible with the older archive versions used by earlier versions of Bitbucket.
