Symptoms

The following message appears in a yellow box above the JIRA Issues Filter:

Cause

  1. There are a few bugs being tracked at  CONF-11283 - JIRA issues macro does not show friendly error messages when used with latest versions of JIRA 3.12 Resolved  and  CONF-29443 - JIRA issues macro displays "USER_UNKNOWN" Open .
  2. For Trusted Applications link, both applications need to have the same username for the user on both applications. If the username is different on the linked applications then the error will occur.

Workaround

Cause 1

There are currently two workarounds:

  • Disable Trust Warnings, from Administration >> Plugins >> JIRA Macros
  • Add the parameter anonymous=true to the end of the macro invocation. It gets separated with a | like all macro parameters.

Resolution

Cause 1

Track CONF-11283 - JIRA issues macro does not show friendly error messages when used with latest versions of JIRA 3.12 Resolved or CONF-29443 - JIRA issues macro displays "USER_UNKNOWN" Open for a resolution.

Cause 2

Change the username for users on all trusted applications to be the same.
