Cause

Browser extensions can cause problems with Confluence JS. We have a record that the google docs offline extension caused this problem.

Usual steps to reproduce are:

  1. Click link to document
  2. Preview Appears
  3. Click download
  4. A "viewer.html" file is downloaded instead of the document.

Resolution

Use Incognito Mode to disable the extensions. Find the problematic browser extension and remove/disable it.
