Summary

Forms in a business project fail to preview when required custom fields are not included in the Create Issue screen or when field contexts are not properly configured for the project.

Environment

Jira

Diagnosis

When accessing forms in a business project, you might encounter an issue where the form is unavailable for preview. This typically happens when a custom field is marked as required but is not visible on the Create Issue screen. Another common cause is when a field is added to the Create Issue layout but its context is not extended to include the project where the form is being used. Both scenarios result in the form failing to display properly.

Cause

The root cause of this issue is often a misconfiguration of custom field contexts. For example, if a custom field like "Area" is included in the Create Issue layout but not configured to be visible in the project's context, and this field is also present in your forms, it will prevent the forms from displaying correctly.

Solution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

You will have to access the context of the custom fields in the Create Issue Layout screen. For each custom field

- Access the field context configuration for the field
- Check if there is a context configuration that includes the affected project.
- If the project is not included, add a new context or modify an existing one to ensure the field is visible in this project.
- Save the changes and verify that all forms are now accessible.
