This page refers to Portfolio classic plans. If you are currently running Portfolio 2.0, please keep in mind that this feature doesn't apply to Live Plans. Check this link to access the latest settings version.

Portfolio for Jira has a number of configuration options to help you customize your plan for improved performance. These options can be accessed and edited on Portfolio for Jira configuration' page under 'Limits'.

Editing backlog item limits

Backlog item limits allow you to set the number of items in the backlog that are retrieved and displayed on the screen. On some systems, having a large number of items in the backlog can cause degraded browser performance and in extreme cases may cause the browser to crash. In addition, having too many items in the backlog may make it difficult to navigate and view all of your issues. To avoid this, you can set an upper limit on the number of items displayed.

To access and edit backlog limit options:

  1. Go to your plan via Portfolio (in header) > View Portfolio > click your plan.
  2. Click more () next to the plan name > Configure.
  3. Click Limits to open the Limits page.
  4. In the Backlog Item Limit text box, enter the number of records to retrieve (the default is 500).

For instances where you have a large number of items and would like to be able to easily view them, you can use filters to display only the records that you are currently working with (see Searching and filtering in the backlog).

Setting import item limits

Import item limits allow you to set the maximum number of issues, stories or epics that are transferred when importing from a project.

To access and edit import limit options:

  1. Go to your plan via Portfolio (in header) > View Portfolio > click your plan.
  2. Click more () next to the plan name > Configure.
  3. Click Limits to open the Limits page.
  4. In the Import item limit text box, enter the number of records retrieved (the default is 100).
