Summary

When a user with the Project Administrator role tries to add a user or update a user's project role in the People section of the project, they see the error "Something went wrong." Try again.

Add the Browse users and groups global permission

The Project Administrator does not have Browse users and Groups global permission, which is causing this error.

Use the below steps to assign Browse users and Groups global permission to the Project Administrator:

  1. Navigate to gear Settings > System > Global Permissions

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the Add Permission section

  3. Select the permission Browse users and groups in the Permission dropdown

  4. In the Group drop-down list, select the group that Project Administrator is added to and choose Add

(info) Alternatively, add the Project Administrator to one of the user groups that already has Browse users and groups permission.

For this, check the Update group membership section on the Managing groups page or the To add users to a group section on the Edit a group page.

More information about Browse Users and Groups permission and other global permissions can be found in Manage global permissions
