The main thing to remember when looking at GreenHopper is that GreenHopper is really just another user interface for JIRA.

  • Everything you see comes from the JIRA data (Projects, Versions, Issues, etc).
  • Everything you do will be pushed to JIRA (Notifications, Workflow functions, etc).
  • Whatever you configure in JIRA will be reflected in GreenHopper (Fields, Permissions, Security, etc).

So basically if you are comfortable with JIRA, GreenHopper should be a real walk in the park! See the JIRA Quick Start.

Here is a quick check list that will provide you with the most valuable features of GreenHopper.

  • You will need a ranking field to prioritise your issues (ordinal priority). Please refer to the Working with Issues in GreenHopper document for instructions on how to do this.
  • Organise your versions like folders. See Planning Board mode: By Versions. Very simple but powerful.
  • Use the contexts to narrow down your issues to display. See the Context section for how to use, create and share contexts.
