Answer

Basic roadmap-

  • A basic roadmap in Jira Software is a team-level roadmap useful for planning large pieces of work several months in advance at the Epic level within a single project. The basic roadmap is available to all customers on Jira Software Cloud. It’s specifically designed to help individual teams plan and track their big-picture goals.
  • To enable a basic roadmap for your company-managed kanban/scrum project, follow the below steps:
    • Navigate to the project settings → Features. On the right panel, under the planning section toggle the radio button to enable the roadmap. Below screenshot for reference.

    • Then navigate to the board settings → Roadmap and toggle the radio button to enable the roadmap for the project. Below screenshot for reference.

Advanced Roadmap-

  • Advanced Roadmaps is a Jira Software Cloud Premium feature that's designed to help multiple teams collaborate together, track the big picture, identify dependencies across large pieces of work, and plan for team capacity. The advanced roadmap can be used for cross projects planning. If you are looking to plan and track work across multiple teams, check out Advanced Roadmaps to know more about the features and offerings.

  • Currently, Advanced Roadmaps only works with Jira Software company-managed projects.
