Confluence provides XML-RPC and SOAP remote APIs. You need to enable the APIs from the Administration Console before you can access Confluence remotely.

(info) You need to have System Administrator permissions in order to perform this function.

To enable the remote API,

  1. Choose Browse > Confluence Admin.
  2. Select 'General Configuration' in the left-hand panel.
  3. Click 'Edit' next to 'Site Configuration'.
  4. Select 'On' next to 'Remote API (XML-RPC & SOAP)'.
  5. Click 'Save' to retain your changes.
