New menu structure

In GreenHopper 6.0, the new board (formerly known as the Rapid Board) is now promoted in the menu structure. The previous boards are now known as the Classic Planning Board, the Classic Task Board, the Classic Released Board and the Classic Charts Board, and are available via Classic in the menu:

Please note that the keyboard shortcuts have also been updated. Type "?" for the latest list.

iPad aware

You can now view your GreenHopper board on your iPad, e.g. during your standups you can now:

  • view the current status of all your stories in Work mode and drag them from column to column
  • view your Burndown Chart
  • and more

We hope you enjoy the convenience of being able to perform many of your most common GreenHopper tasks on the iPad (we do!)

No longer Rapid by name – but still rapid by nature

In GreenHopper 6.0 the new board is no longer known as the "Rapid Board" — we figure everyone knows by now that it is vastly faster than the Classic boards. The new board has been built from the ground up on newer technology that enables us to provide optimum performance, making the most of your valuable time.

Enjoy!

Can I configure the cards' fields that will be visible, in the work board? Today, only the issue, the description, the priority and the assignee are visible, but I want to see the original estimate and the remaining estimate.

There's always the Classic Boards. (smile)

Does iPad support include Android tablets too?

    1. We haven't tested it in this release, but it should be at least partially compatibile (screen width may be an issue).

Support for touch devices will be more fully implemented in the very near future.

The new menu structure is great, but the majority of our users are still using the Classic boards.  We only have a couple of groups using the Rapid Board.  They would like to use the new functionality, but it would disrupt the whole company if the menu structure changed when we upgraded.

Is there a configuration setting that would allow us to upgrade to Greenhopper 6.0 while still keeping the old menu structure?

    1. No, there is no setting for this. However, when existing users click Agile they will be taken to their last board - be that a new Scrum / Kanban board or one of the Classic boards (Plan, Task, Chart, Report). They can then change the board they are on via the dropdown within Classic:

      Thanks,

      Nicholas

Could there be a setting for this?  I have the same issue though in my case I upgrade the plugin without knowing about, and thus announcing to my customers, the menu change and have angry customers wanting the old menu options.

Would be great to see a document explaining how drag&drop i boards (sprints) works compared to "fix version". Before the drag&drop i "Planning Board" changed the "fix version", but do we have to administer this field manually from now on?

    1. Hi Svein,

I'm not sure I follow unfortunately. We have a webinar here which walks through GreenHopper 6, perhaps that covers what you are looking for.

Alternatively, could you please provide more information.

I found the answer to my question here: Ending a Sprint

(wanted to delete my comment afterwards, but not possible)

Is there a way to have two sprints active at the same time? It seems the planning board does not allow starting a new sprint before closing the currently active one.

I have a couple of questions about these new rapid boards:

    1. Can the planning board show subtasks? Currently all I see are stories and defects, not the subtasks
    2. Can the burndown chart show ALL tasks as well (stories, defects, subtasks) as they burn down, not just the main "parent" stories?
    3. Can the planning board show story points AND time estimates? I have a need to track both of these items for different purposes. Without using fix versions, this becomes difficult as the Time Tracking Report requires you to select a fix version.

You really should not have removed the board selection drop-down like this... we are using it all the time. Now to switch from one board to another this is a real pain as we have to navigate to the "Manage board" and then select the board we want.

Can we please have an option to enable it back ? we do not care that the page load is reduced, as long as we keep the functionality we had before. Thanks

Ps : is there a way to rollback to the previous version ? without this users are lost. Thanks

Can we have the ability to filter the burndown charts as we could on the "Classic" boards

    Thanks,

    Mark

How can I turn off the Release... link on the top of my Done column in GH 6.0?  We're using a Kanban Rapid Board to track help tickets.

Where can I find a list of API calls for GH 6.0?

    1. Please use 6.0.2 (which immediately superceded 6.0): http://docs.atlassian.com/greenhopper/
